We all have music that takes us back to a particular time in our lives. It invokes a certain emotion and sends a flood of memories flying forward. Today, a song came up on Pandora that sent me back to my days in Winona. Here are a few of the songs that bring back the good time stories.
Ludo - Hum Along
I watched Treaty of Paris, Ludo and Quietdrive in concert twice in 3 days (in La Crosse, WI and Burnsville, MN) with friends Kelly, Tanya, and Christa. Along with some other great memories related to those times, these take me back.
Quietdrive - Rise from the Ashes
Treaty of Paris - Hello Nurse
Elliott Smith - Needle in the Hay
I'm disappointed that it took his murder / suicide (up for debate) to get turned onto this artist (I hadn't watched Goodwill Hunting at that point). This was the song that I walked and thought to. I have fond memories of walking the streets of Winona at dusk during the fall of 2003. It was a time of unrequited love and self-discovery and growth. Good times!
Death Cab for Cutie - We Looked Like Giants
A night hanging out with a friend downtown turned into a transition into adulthood.
Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism
Death Cab were starting to gain traction after releasing Transatlanticism (2003). I had learned about the band off of a music message board and starting getting into their music. I invited my sister to come with me to see the band in the mainroom at First Ave. It was this song imparticular that bonded two siblings and broke the heart of an emo boy. Poor emo boy. ;o)
Buckcherry - Crazy Bitch
I can't say that I'm a fan of the song itself but it takes me back to Thirsty Thursdays and Wing Wednesdays at Schydes with the gang. Brad? Brad?!?
Normandale Songs
I'm not sure what it is about these two songs but both take me back to the Normandale Student Union. Right between the TV room and the pool hall to be exact.
Good times! What songs take you back?
